Western Carolina University is more than just an institution of higher education.
We are a community of determined students relentlessly pursing goals, faculty members redefining research and innovation in the modern age and staff members resolved to support student success at every turn. Our university has deep ties to this region and we are committed to tackle the unique challenges that face western North Carolina.
Through storytelling and dynamic content we showcase the unique perspective of the students on our campus and the success of our alumni across the globe. We highlight focus on our regional impact, national issues and academic excellence.
As a regionally engaged university, we embrace our role as steward and champion of Western North Carolina. The opioid crisis is a nationwide epidemic whose impact we are all too familiar with in WNC. We sought to foster tangible steps that will make significant and lasting contributions to the well-being of the people affected by addiction in our region.
Our award winning Diversity Dialogues series explores issues of diversity and inclusion on our campus, in our community, and across the globe. We've covered Conversations on Color, Being Latino, Cherokee Culture and the latest dialogue addresses the issue of Women in Leadership.
The Western Carolina University brand platform recognizes the unique potential within every student to achieve greatness through ambition, hard work, and the willingness to push through obstacles, even those that can seem insurmountable.
We encourage our faculty, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders to help us tell the story about how and why they Live Western. When we tell Live Western stories, they are stories of aspiration, innovation, leadership and tenacity. They demonstrate a strength of purpose that drives us individually and collectively.
