An official academic transcript is a complete and accurate reflection of a student’s
record. It contains all coursework taken while enrolled at Western Carolina University.
The Office of the Registrar can assist you in obtaining a copy of your transcript.
The Center for Career and Professional Development and the Alumni Affairs office offer
a variety of opportunities and support for both alumni and students to help each other
and pursue career-related goals. These offerings range from broad networking and affiliation
to specific services and tools. They include formal and informal job shadowing, internship
and job listing services and job searching assistance, guest speaking, career counseling
and consultation, and on-campus recruiting.

The Office of Alumni Engagement at Western Carolina University has partnered with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to publish the first WCU alumni directory in more than ten years. When you update
your contact information, you will have the option to purchase a directory.
There are ways to get involved with WCU after you graduate.
From local events like Homecoming and the Purple and Gold Reunion to digital engagement opportunities like socials and our monthly newsletter, we have a little something for everyone. Stay up to date with our alumni events!
Nominate a deserving candidate for a Young Alumnus / Alumna Award by May 12, 2023. The Young Alumnus/Alumna Award recognizes established and future leaders among Western Carolina University’s young alumni. The nominee must have graduated within the past ten years, attained a level of distinction in his chosen field of work, demonstrated a commitment to the service of others and shown the potential for future leadership/distinction. Preference will be given to those who, while enrolled at WCU, were active participants in the life of the university. From Homecoming to Legacy Pinning to the Purple and Gold Reunion, we have a variety
of in-person events we host for our alumni to enjoy. A variety of campus-wide events,
such as Mountain Heritage Day, are also available to alumni.
You don’t have to be a seasoned spokesperson to successfully advocate for WCU. Legislators are people just like you and with our Advocacy 101 Guide, you’ll have a great way to get started speaking with your local legislators whether it’s in-person, by email or on the phone. WCU has several legislative priorities for which supporters can advocate.
Introduced in 2001 under the association’s then-President-elect Laura Leatherwood, the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund provides support for relatives of alumni currently attending WCU. To date, over $335,000 has been raised and 25 recipients of the scholarship have been named. If you have a family member who is eligible, or if you know someone who is eligible for this scholarship, please visit scholarcat.wcu.edu. If you are interested in contributing to this fund to help fellow alumni, please make a gift.
The 1889 Club recognizes donors for annual gifts made to the Fund for WCU, which supports
scholarships, student programming, professional development, and our ongoing stewardship
efforts. Named in honor of the year of WCU’s establishment, this society embraces
gifts ranging from $18.89 to $1889 a year. The giving level for young alumni is $188.90
per year. Benefits include specialized thank you cards, invitations to 1889 Club events
featuring traditional and contemporary music of the region, and a collectable 1889
