Family Weekend Kick-Off

Central Plaza

The Department of Campus Activities will host the Family Weekend Kick-Off on the Central Plaza! Join us for family photos with Paws, caricature drawings, jewelry makers, giveaways, refreshments, and we'll have the Catamount Dining food truck on-site!

WCU School of Stage and Screen: A Doll's House, Part 1

Friday, October 4th – University Auditorium
7:30 pm, To purchase tickets.

Performances of A Doll's House will take place at the University Auditorium this October 3rd, 4th, and 11th.  A Doll's House, Part 2 will be presented at the University Auditorium this October 5th, 9th, and 10th. You do not have to have seen A Doll's House to watch A Doll's House, part 2.

Are you a new WCU student with a family member who is an alum of one of WCU's undergraduate or graduate programs? If so, Join the Office of Alumni Engagement for the 2024 Legacy Pinning Ceremony! This ceremony is held annually to honor incoming Western Carolina Legacy students and their family members during WCU’s Family Weekend. It offers an alumnus the opportunity to “pin” their incoming student with a special legacy pin that denotes their WCU heritage.

The Cullowhee Community Garden is an organic, allotment plot, donation-based garden. One half of all produce grown is donated through our food relief partner organizations. We have fruit trees and bushes, native wildflowers, shrubs and trees all around the property. Volunteers are needed for manual tasks in the Cullowhee Community Garden, such as maintaining garden paths, mulching, mowing, moving things around in wheelbarrows, and helping gardeners with planting and weeding their gardens.

Enjoy a fun-filled day in Cullowhee as the Catamount football team takes on Wofford. Expect a crowd of over 10,000 cheering on the Catamounts at E.J. Whitmire Stadium. WCU finished strong last season and excitement is high for the 2024 season. Fans will also be entertained throughout the game watching the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band with over 500 members.

Enjoy Family Weekend and getting to hang out with your Catamount by getting to experience a staple of Western North Carolina and one of the most popular rivers in the Southeast, Nantahala River! Meet at the Campus Recreation Center at 10am. Once everyone has arrived, the trip will then depart for the Nantahala River Put-in. The Nantahala River offers two class III rapids and many class II rapids. All participants will help with paddling, carrying of boats, and loading of equipment. If this is a problem for any participants special considerations can be made if BCC staff are notified in advance. Lunch will be provided half way down the river.
