The Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) at Western Carolina University is committed to providing exceptional customer service and support for all your recruitment efforts. Thank you for your interest in Western Carolina University students! Our students are among the best in North Carolina and across the nation. We look forward to working with you to help you find the best candidates for your individual needs. If you are interested in working with us, please start by creating an account on JobCat (housed by Symplicity/NACELink). JobCat is the system we encourage all our employers to use to post positions, register for career fairs and special events, as well as sign up for on-campus recruitment activities throughout the academic year.
Recruiting Opportunities
There are may ways for employers to recruit at Western Carolina University! We have a variety of on campus recruiting resources available to you once you’ve created a JobCat account. If you are unsure about the best recruiting option for your organization please contact us to set up a meeting!
- Start by creating a free account on JobCat (housed by Symplicity/NACELink). JobCat is the system we encourage all our employers to use to post positions, register for career fairs and special events throughout the academic year.
- Register to attend a Career Fair at WCU. Career fairs are our most popular resource for employers to briefly talk to students about opportunities you have for various internships and careers.
- Participate in one of our other on-campus recruiting options. Learn more about them below. Once you are ready complete the Recruiting Request Form found via the button below.
Classroom Presentation Request
We sponsor several career fairs throughout the year that allow our employers to meet with a large volume of students in an exhibit hall setting or virtually. Career fairs are our most popular resource for employers to briefly talk to students about opportunities you have for various internships and careers. These career fairs range from industry specific to general. To register for a career fair sign into the JobCat system.
Educate students about your company’s/organization’s mission, products, services, and the employment/internship opportunities you have available! Information sessions can be scheduled on the same day as a block of interview slots or as standalone events. Sessions are offered throughout the academic year Monday – Thursday between 10am – 4pm. Please use the On-Campus Recruiting Request Form (purple button above) to book a session.
Tabling is a great way to increase visibility, develop brand recognition, and raise awareness about your company or organization. These tables allow you to interact with students throughout the day. We gladly offer this resource for employers throughout the academic year. We can reserve you and your organization a table in the University Center (UC) or other campus locations to market your organization and its opportunities. Outside locations are available when weather permits. Please use the On-Campus Recruiting Request Form (purple button above) to book a table.
Host a drop-in event for students to have their resumes reviewed by you, the employer. Reviews are usually 15 to 30 minutes for each student. Please use the On-Campus Recruiting Request Form (purple button above) to book a session.
(OCI) allows employers to conduct interviews for jobs and internships within the CCPD. Our rooms are equipped with a desk, telephone, computer, and chairs. Our front desk will check students in and invite them to wait in our reception area until their scheduled interview time. To access the Recruiting Opportunities. Mock Interviews are a great way to help students brush up on their professional skills while giving you a chance to meet students early in their career. These are often done in collaboration with a particular class or discipline. Please use the On-Campus Recruiting Request Form (purple button above) to book a session.
Some faculty are willing to allow employers into the classroom (virtually or in-person) to present on pertinent career topics and company/organization information. Think about the majors or academic programs that would serve as the best population of students for the information you want to present. Presentations may be brief or for the entire class time, depending on the faculty's needs. These requests need to be made early to allow for faculty to plan their individual curriculum around your presentation. If you are interested in a presentation during the fall semester sign-ups are July 15th – August 31st. During the spring semester sign-ups are November 15th – January 15th. We cannot guarantee classroom presentations but will work collaboratively with you and our faculty partners to attempt to meet your needs. Posting Jobs and Internships
Posting your positions on JobCat is easy! Follow the instructions below or view a video on how to create a JobCat account and post positions.
- If you are interested in posting an internship position please refer to our employer page for internships.
To post a position follow the instructions below.
- Find the purple button in the upper right column of this page, click “Start Recruiting” to enter JobCat.
- Already have an account - log in with your credentials.
- Don't have an account - Scroll to the bottom and click the “Sign Up” or “Sign Up and Post Job”.
- If you are creating an acocunt for the first time you will need to wait 2-3 business days for approval of your account before you can access Job Cat. Once your account is approved you will recieve an automated message from the JobCat system. If you do not receive an email please reach out to us.
- When logged into Job Cat, post a position by clicking on "Create Job Posting" on the right-hand navigation bar.
- If you are posting a position fill out as much information as possible. The more descriptive you are, the better chance you will have of attracting students that you intend to apply to this position.
On-Campus Branding
In addition to utilizing our Recruiting Opportunities, there are other ways to spread the word about your opportunities to Western Carolina University (WCU)students.
Corporate Partnership Program
To all our current employers who have worked with CCPD to employ our students we want to say thank you for your continued engagement with Western Carolina University. As our university has shown significant growth over the last ten years, WCU’s commitment to providing you with the best students our region has to offer has also grown exponentially to mirror that growth. As a result, CCPD created the Corporate Partnership Program to provide our employers with options to consider investing at an even deeper level. In return these employers will receive numerous perks that can include:

- Discounted or free career fair registration fees
- Opportunities to participate in special events leading up to career fairs
- Special placement at on-campus events
- Priority involvement on employer/industry panels
- Advertisements in CCPD publications and JobCat
Student Organization Sponsorships
Many student clubs and organizations hold various events during the year. Many of these events are campus-wide and reach a large range of students.
Internship Scholarships
Western Carolina University also looks to our employer partners to consider supporting internship opportunities for students through an internship scholarship. WCU has a large population of first-generation college students as well as students who need to work while attending school. This can be a barrier for students who are looking to develop professionally and participate in internship programs. An internship scholarship is an excellent way to support student development and help brand your organization on campus with the student population.
