It's official: WCU experiences third consecutive year of record enrollment; student GPA soars

It’s beginning to sound like a broken record, this talk of broken records when it comes to enrollment at Western Carolina University where, for the third consecutive year and the seventh time in the past eight years, the institution is experiencing increases in both the size and academic qualifications of its student body.

Metcalfe invited to give presentation at World Nursing Congress

Sharon Metcalfe, associate professor in WCU’s School of Nursing, was invited to present her work on “Social Determinants and Educational Barriers for Minority and Rural Students for Nursing School Admission” on Aug. 29 at the 17th annual World Nursing Congress in Zurich, Switzerland.

Wells endows scholarship in honor of university's contribution to her life

Growing up in the Dix Gap community of 1920s Cullowhee, Katherine Brown Wells had a front-porch view of WCU as it evolved from start-up high school to junior college to full-fledged four-year institution.
