Pushing the envelope is one reason Western Carolina University’s Pride of the Mountains Marching Band has become one of the most renowned collegiate bands in the country.

Maddie O’Shine was about 9 years old when she was first sexually assaulted and 11 when it finally ended. Her post traumatic stress syndrome continues to this day.
